Deputy Chief

Deputy Chief Gonzalez started his law enforcement career with the Addison Police Department in 2003 working as a Patrolman. He was assigned to the Illinois State Police DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DuMEG) as a narcotic investigator under the Criminal Investigations Section in 2006. Deputy Chief Gonzalez was reassigned in 2009 as a Gang Investigator and again reassigned as a Detective in 2013.

In 2014, Deputy Chief Gonzalez was assigned to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as a Task Force Officer. In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

In 2019, Deputy Chief Gonzalez was assigned to the Field Services Division as a Patrol Sergeant. He was later assigned as the Detective Sergeant in June of 2020 and then became Detective Commander in June 2022. On February 27, 2023, he was appointed Deputy Chief.

Deputy Chief Gonzalez has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 288. He graduated from the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command in 2021. Deputy Chief Gonzalez is formerly a member of the DuPage Major Crimes Task Force and the DuPage County Anti-Gang Tactical Team (A-TAC). He served the Police Department as a Master Firearms Instructor, Rifle Instructor, Ballistic Shield Instructor, Tactical Medicine Instructor, Evidence Technician, and Juvenile Officer.

Deputy Chief Gonzalez has been involved in a substantial number of covert investigations. He has received numerous awards and commendations during his time with the Addison Police Department and while working in the Criminal Investigations Section.
